Melissa & Allen
We had such a fantastic time shooting Melissa & Allen’s destination wedding at Dreams Playa Mujeres! Our talented on-site photographer, Marlon, was there to capture each special moment of their day, as it happened. We are especially pleased that Allen stated that every time he looks at these photos, he can remember exactly how he felt – which is the goal for any destination wedding photographer.
Read on to learn more about this couple’s love story as well as their advice for newly engaged couples.

How did you meet your partner?
Melissa: We met on Tinder of all places. This being Melissa’s first ever online dating experience. After 2 days online we connected. We had brunch the next day and the rest is history.
Allen: Tinder (don’t judge me!)

What is your favorite thing about your partner?
Melissa: Allen is so much like me in so many ways, except for the parts I need him not to be. He is the calm to my chaos, he never reacts and always responds with a level head.
Allen: Melissa challenges me. When we met, I couldn’t imagine having a wife and kid. She made me reevaluate what I want out of life. I’m thankful to her for the life we share.
What was the proposal like?
Melissa: Christmas morning, 2020. Our daughter just finished opening presents and asked for my help opening a new toy. Allen, behind me, said there was one more thing. I turned around to him on one knee. He asked if I would make him happy for the rest of his life. I cried and our daughter asked where her ring was!
Allen: Terrifying. I was nervous for a week!

Why did you decide to have a destination wedding?
Melissa: Planning a wedding was never on my list of things I wanted to do. Stressing out over place cards menus and flower arrangements always seemed unnecessary. We wanted a destination wedding because we wanted to:
A. Eliminate as much planning as possible
B. Our guests were spread across the country, since everyone needed to travel anyway, why not travel to beautiful Mexico so we could all make a vacation of it.
Allen: Neither Melissa or I are great at planning things, so we left the heavy lifting to the professionals.

What was your favorite part of wedding planning?
Melissa: My favorite part of planning was seeing it all come together. The day was so much more perfect than I could have ever imagined.
Allen: Not having to do anything.

What was the most memorable moment of your wedding day?
Melissa: I can’t pick one moment of the day as my favorite. It was all just so wonderful!
Allen: Watching Melissa walk down the aisle.

What was your experience like working with your Adventure Photos photographer/videographer?
Melissa: Our photographer Marlon was so amazing. We went all out on the photo package because as amazing as we knew this day would be, we wanted to capture as much as possible. He was with us for 8 hours and took so many amazing photos. He captured all the standard poses and still shots you would expect, but the candids he got were sooo amazing. Looking at them is like reliving the day in real-time. Our package also included a summary video which was very sweet to watch.
Allen: Beyond my expectations. Our photographer was amazing!

What was your favorite wedding photograph and why?
Melissa: I tried but I cannot pick one favorite. I literally love every photo!
Allen: I love them all. Every time I look at our photos, I can remember exactly how I felt in that moment. That’s a gift.

If you could give advice to newly engaged couples, what would it be?
Melissa: Don’t stress. This is an amazing day and should be enjoyed for all its worth.
Allen: Don’t sweat the small things, nobody really cares.
