Our talented Adventure Photos’ photographer, Dani Antillanca, thoroughly enjoyed being able to capture Haley and Michael’s big day at Dreams Natura in Cancun. We can’t wait to share their heartwarming love story with you all as they recently tied the knot with this stunning destination wedding celebration in Mexico.
How did you meet your partner?
Michael and I met in college. We both attended Siena Heights University in Michigan. We were both studying to become teachers, and met in one of our teacher classes.
What is your favorite thing about your partner?
We love how much fun we have together. It can be golfing with our friends, traveling across the world to see our family, playing card games, or watching shows together on Netflix — we always have so much fun together.
What was the proposal like?
After 5 years of dating, Michael proposed at a golf resort in Arizona. Haley had absolutely no idea what was happening until the moment it happened. When Michael popped the question, Haley said “yes, finally!”
Why did you decide to have a destination wedding?
With half of our friends and family living in Michigan, and the other half living in Arizona, no matter where we got married some of our family and friends would have to travel. This got us thinking, why don’t we just all travel to a better and fun location — Mexico! A destination wedding is also very “us” — our relationship has always been about having fun, so this was the perfect way to kick off our marriage.
What was your favorite part of wedding planning?
We loved how easy the process was, and how much expertise the wedding planners had to offer. We provided very minimal direction of what we wanted on our special day, and we are so happy we did, because the wedding planners recommended everything that we could have possibly wanted and more.
What was the most memorable moment of your wedding day?
Honestly, there are too many. When people say the day goes by so fast — they aren’t lying. This is also why we are SO HAPPY we did a destination wedding. It allowed us to spend quality time with all of our guests over a 3-4 day period. By the time the wedding came around, we didn’t have to worry about talking and seeing everyone, we just got to have FUN!
If we have to pick one, it would be that moment right after we became husband and wife. When we turn and see all of our friends and family there, supporting us, loving us, and having the best time of their life. It was a special moment.
What was your experience like working with your Adventure Photos photographer?
We absolutely loved working with our photographer, Dani. She was able to capture every precious moment that we wanted. Her expertise with our location also allowed her to know some fun poses and locations — that turned out to be some of our favorite photos! She even stayed a little bit later for us to capture something we always wanted to do… some pool time after our wedding!
What was your favorite wedding photograph and why?
It was tough to pick our favorite, because we really did have so many that we loved. If we had to pick one — it would be this one. The one picture we got with ALL of our friends and family, celebrating our love. It meant the world to us that this many people (100) would travel to Mexico, in the middle of a pandemic, to celebrate our love. It means the world to us that we have one photo that will remind us of everyone — and the fun we had that week!
