Meet Karol Latino, one of our professional photographers who is based at both Dreams Las Mareas and Secrets Papagyo in Costa Rica.
Karol’s creativity and passion for photography is evident in all of her portrait and wedding photography. However, it is her unique ability to connect with each of her clients that really ensures she captures that special moment in their lives and creates a tangible memory for them to look back on, years from now!

Where are you originally from and what do you miss most about there?
I’m originally from Costa Rica and I love the mix of urbanization & its rich variety of nature at every corner of the country.
When & how did you get started as a photographer?
Since I was little, I’ve always been passionate about art from playing the drums & bass to painting canvas, I decided to venture in photography. After saving a lot, I was able to purchase my very first DLSR in July of 2019 and from then I’ve learned on my own with curiosity always searching for new things to learn.
What part of being a photographer do you love the most?
I love the fact of being able to be part of people’s experiences of which my photographs will be the memory of this particular event, such as weddings, proposal, sorority reunions or family trips!
What is your favorite style of photography?
I love portrait photography from taking big group shots to singles or couples.
Where is your favorite location to photograph?
My favorite space is nature, particularly beach or places near water like waterfalls.
What is your “must have” piece of equipment?
It would have to be my favorite lens which is the Canon 100mm.
What is your favorite part about working as a destination photographer with Adventure Photos?
My favorite part is being able to connect to a big diversity of people all around the world with different views but the same passion to capture a special moment through photography.
What was the most memorable photo session or wedding you have shot & why?
Taking photos of families who live very far apart from each other and seeing them realize that all the travel and effort was worth it to be all reunited with the people they love at this time of their life and me being granted the responsibility to capture this special memory.
What is your favorite photograph and why?
An out of focus photo of my mom and I at the beach as we have very few photos together and is a reminder that is what you capture what makes a photo special.
How did you begin working with Adventure Photos? What hotel are you currently working at?
I’m currently working at Dreams Las Mareas & Secrets Papagayo in Costa Rica. I got called to work with them after being recommended to the company.
What advice would you give to clients prior to their photo session
Trust the photographer and have fun while at it!
What’s your technique to have clients relax during a shoot?
Getting to know them so they feel they are with just another friend joking around and having fun.
Do you prefer to be in front of or behind the camera?
Being an introvert, I used to not like being in front of the camera but said to myself to try so I could find ways to make people feel more comfortable in that moment and try to make it easier and fun for them.
